  Niemieckie siły zbrojne okresu międzywojennego zazwyczaj są łączone w historiografii wojskowej z historią polityczną państwa niemieckiego. Powinniśmy jednak zastanowić się, czy ten punkt widzenia jest w każdej sytuacji poprawny. Mianowanie Adolfa Hitlera na kanclerza 30 stycznia 1933 r. okazało się brzemienne dla historii państwa i narodu niemieckiego. Jednak warto zauważyć, iż nie spowodowało ono rewolucji w siłach zbrojnych. Ich działalność na wielu polach pozostała niezmieniona i rozwijała się w sposób niezależny. Jako przykład możemy podać zagadnienia niemieckiej doktryny wojennej, organizacji jednostek i organów dowodzenia, czy tempo zmiany liczebności wojsk lądowych. Mimo to wiele prac wiąże państwo Hitlera, znane jako III Rzesza, z rozwojem niemieckich sił zbrojnych. Z perspektywy historyka wojskowego w wielu wypadkach może to być mylące podejście, jeśli nie błąd metodologiczny. Summary A military historian view and the political and systemic history of the German Reich In a military historiography the German Army of the interwar period has been usually linked with political history of the German state. We should put the question, if this point of view is correct in all cases. Adolf Hitler’s appointment as a chancellor on 30th January 1933 proved to be crucial for history of the German state and nation. However, it should be noted that this does not mean there was a revolution in the German army. In many grounds its activity remains the same and was developed in the independent way. As an example we can indicate problems of the German military doctrine, units and supreme leadership organization or dynamics of the changes in the land forces number. Nonetheless, many works bound Hitler’s state known as the III Reich with the development of the German Army. From a point of view of the military historian in most case this may be deceptive way, if not a methodological mistake.
