  The main aim of this article is to examine Germany’s involvement and diplomatic efforts in resolving the conflict between Georgia and Russia in 2008. The author’s intention is to assess the effectiveness of Germany’s actions in this conflict and to present Berlin’s diplomatic successes and failures, both in its relations with Moscow and in its relations with Tbilisi and world powers. The main research hypothesis assumes that in 2008, Germany continued to prioritize multilateralism, peaceful cooperation, mediation, the defense of human rights, and adherence to international law as its main ideological stance and the canon of German foreign policy. At the same time, it tolerated Russia’s aggressive actions against Georgia and other former Soviet republics. Germany’s policy towards Georgia evolved from a commitment to supporting Tbilisi’s integration with Western structures (EU, NATO) to a more reserved, even moderate, stance, dictated primarily by the common interests of Russia and Germany in Europe.;
  Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest zbadanie zaangażowania Niemiec i ich dyplomatycznych wysiłków w rozwiązanie konfliktu pomiędzy Gruzją a Rosją, który miał miejsce w 2008 roku. Zamierzeniem autora jest ocenienie efektywności działań Niemiec w tym konflikcie oraz przedstawienie dyplomatycznych sukcesów i porażek Berlina zarówno w stosunkach z Moskwą, jak i w relacjach z Tbilisi oraz mocarstwami światowymi. Główna hipoteza badawcza zakłada, że w 2008 roku Niemcy nadal priorytetowo traktowały: multilateralizm, pokojową współpracę, mediację, obronę praw człowieka i przestrzeganie prawa międzynarodowego jako swoją główną postawę ideologiczną oraz kanon niemieckiej polityki zagranicznej. Tolerowały jednocześnie agresywne działania Rosji wymierzone w Gruzję i inne byłe republiki radzieckie. Polityka Niemiec wobec Gruzji ewoluowała od postawy zaangażowania we wsparcie Tbilisi w integracji ze strukturami zachodnimi (UE, NATO) do postawy bardziej wstrzemięźliwej, a nawet umiarkowanej podyktowanej głównie wspólnymi interesami Rosji i Niemiec w Europie.
