  Dialogue is a multi-discourse, a conversation of two or more people. Plato and Augustine’s many works were written in the form of a dialogue. This article is an attempt to answer the questions: why and how did Plato and Augustine use dialogue in pedagogical activity? The author, in the context of the dialogue used by Plato and Augustine, makes a distinction between inner dialogue (conversation) with himself, with the other, with God. In order to achieve the goal, the author first presents Plato and Augustine‘s figures as educators and their epistemology (the theory of reminiscence and illumination), to ultimately give examples of dialogue used by ancient authors.;
  Dialog to wypowiedź wielopodmiotowa, rozmowa dwóch lub większej liczby osób. Wiele dzieł Platona i Augustyna zostało napisanych w formie dialogu. Niniejszy artykuł jest próbą znalezienia odpowiedzi na pytanie: w jakim celu i w jaki sposób Platon i Augustyn stosowali dialog w działalności pedagogicznej? Autor, w kontekście dialogu stosowanego przez Platona i Augustyna, dokonuje rozróżnienia na dialog wewnętrzny (rozmowę) z samym sobą, z kimś innym, z Bogiem. Aby osiągnąć zamierzony cel, autor przedstawia najpierw sylwetki Platona i Augustyna jako pedagogów oraz ich epistemologię (teorię reminiscensji i iluminizmu), aby ostatecznie dać przykłady dialogu zastosowanego przez starożytnych autorów.
