In 1961, fragmentarily preserved vessels of the Corded Ware culture were recovered during rescue excavations conducted by Czesław Potemski at an Iron Age cemetery located on Siedlecka Street in Bydgoszcz-Czyżkówko. This study aims to determine whether this find should be associated with a burial context or if it reflects another form of settlement activity by the Corded Ware culture population. The recovered set consists of a straightwalledbeaker and a fragmentarily preserved vessel with a handle (possibly a jug). The vessels underwent morphological, stylistic, and technological analyses to establish theirchronology, specifics of production, and whether they could represent a contemporaneous set deposited in connection with the funeral rites of the Corded Ware culture people. The results support this assumption. The probable grave of the Corded Ware culture population was dated to the period 2500–2200 BC. Analysis indicates that certain stylistic features of the vessels suggest supra-regional influences, specifically from central Germany. Additionally,an unusual temper in the ceramic mass was identified, consisting of ground and fired bone fragments, atypical for Corded Ware ceramics, which may further indicate a ritualistic use and a deliberate deposition context.
