  The philosopher of the Frankfurt School and the German theologian who reached the see of Peter maintained a dialogue for years from different edges of the racionality. Both have spoken about the modern reason and the necessity of widening the narrow limits in which it has moved for a long time, even reaching to create “dreams” that become “monsters”. It must be a dialogue between “secular reason” and “theological reason” for becoming an openness of modern reason to different regions of the human existence. This agreement is relative in both authors, which results meaning and hopeful in the perspective of the third millennium. The speech that gave the German pope in the Bundestag reflects perfectly this debate.;
  El filósofo de la Escuela de Fráncfort y el teólogo alemán que llegó a la sede de Pedro han mantenido un diálogo durante años desde distintas orillas de la racionalidad. Ambos han hablado sobre la razón moderna y la necesidad de ampliar los estrechos límites en que esta se ha movido durante un largo tiempo, llegando incluso a crear “sueños” que han devenido en auténticos “monstruos”. Debe haber pues un diálogo entre “razón secular” y “razón teológica” que llegue a una apertura de la razón moderna hacia regiones distintas de la existencia humana. Este acuerdo llega sin embargo a tener un relativo consenso entre ambos autores, que resulta significativo a la vez que esperanzador con vistas al tercer milenio. El discurso mantenido por el papa alemán en el Bundestag recoge inevitablemente todo este debate.;

Dialog pomiędzy „racjonalnością laicką” i „racjonalnością teologiczną” Filozof ze Szkoły Frankfurckiej i teolog niemiecki, który zasiadł na Stolicy Piotrowej prowadzili przez lata dyskurs, reprezentując różne stanowiska w kwestii racjonalności. Obaj mówili o współczesnych przyczynach kryzysu racjonalności, czego skutkiem było to, że wykreowano „marzenia”, które stają się „potworami”. Podkreślali konieczność dialogu, który winien toczyć się pomiędzy stanowiskami laickimi i stanowiskami teologicznymi, aby stale się otwierać na różne obszary ludzkiej egzystencji. Porozumienie pomiędzy jednymi i drugimi argumentami, u obu autorów, rokuje nadzieje w perspektywie trzeciego tysiąclecia. Przemówienie, które wygłosił niemiecki papież w Bundestagu, bardzo dobrze odzwierciedla wspomnianą debatę.
