The main purpose of the article is to present the role of the image as an important element of the information message. The article is descriptive, based on existing materials and analysis of the content of scientific publications in the field of information visualization. The author agrees with the presented content that the infographic is now one of the main elements of communication. It shows its importance referring to the problems of perception and concepts related to the change of the discourse treating the image.;
Głównym celem prezentowanego artykułu jest przedstawienie roli obrazu jako ważnego elementu przekazu informacyjnego. Artykuł ma charakter opisowy, powstał w oparciu o materiały zastane oraz analizę treści publikacji naukowych z dziedziny wizualizacji informacji. Zgodnie z przedstawioną treścią nasuwa się wniosek, że infografika jest obecnie jednym z głównych elementów komunikacji. Wykazano jej znaczenie, odwołując się do problematyki percepcji oraz koncepcji związanych ze zmianą dyskursu naukowego traktującego o obrazie.
