  Der Artikel diskutiert die Vorstellung der europäischen (vor allem mitteleuropäischen) Gelehrten an der Wende des 14. zum 15. Jahrhundert über die Welt, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Ansichten über Kosmos und Ökumene, also des damals bekannten, bewohnten Teils der Erde. Der Autor vertritt die Auff assung, dass das damals vorherrschende gelehrte Bild der Welt zu dieser Zeit noch nicht in der Phase der radikalen Transformation, sondern in einer letzten Phase vor einer Umformung seiner Strukturen. Die Überlegungen führten die zu dieser Zeit erscheinende neue Angaben und Th eorien über Kosmos und Ökumene zu tiefgreifenden Veränderungen in der Wahrnehmung der Welt in der Frühen Neuzeit.;
  The article discusses the concepts of European (mainly Central European) academics from the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries about the world, with particular emphasis on the views concerning the universe and oecumene (the known and inhabited part of the Earth). The author maintains that the medieval scholarly picture of the world was not in a stage of a radical transformation, but in the last stage preceding the transforming of its structures. The new data and theories concerning the universe and oecumene emerging at that time led to fundamental changes in the perception of the world in the early modern period.;
  W artykule omówiono wyobrażenia europejskich (przede wszystkim środkowoeuropejskich) uczonych z przełomu XIV i XV wieku o świecie, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem poglądów na temat kosmosu oraz ekumeny (znanej wówczas zamieszkałej części Ziemi). Autor uważa, że średniowieczny uczony obraz świata nie znajdował się wówczas jeszcze w fazie radykalnej transformacji, lecz w ostatniej fazie przed dogłębnym przeformowaniem jego struktur. Pojawiające się w tym okresie nowe informacje oraz teorie dotyczące kosmosu i ekumeny doprowadziły do gruntownych zmian w postrzeganiu świata w okresie wczesnonowożytnym.
