The design and execution of the baptismal font are linked to the 900th anniversary of the baptism of Western Pomerania and serve to commemorate the Christianizing missions of St. Otto, Bishop of Bamberg in 1124–1125 and 1128. This study concerns the baptistery itself, its placement within the liturgical space, its form and iconography as inspired by theology and history, and its theological hermeneutics. The historical iconography commemorates the fathers of the baptism, that is, St. Otto and the two rulers: Boleslaw III Wrymouth and Wartislaw I. The combination of theological and historical content makes the font and its message both a catechesis of sorts and a lesson in history and culture. The research project titled “The Baptistery Commemorating the 900th Anniversary of the Baptism of Pomerania” was approved by the Ministry of Education and Science and was included in the research and educational project titled “The Baptism of Pomerania in the History of Poland and Europe: The 900th Anniversary Jubilee.”;
Projekt i realizacja chrzcielnicy wiążą się z jubileuszem 900-lecia chrztu Pomorza Zachodniego, który upamiętnia misję chrystianizacyjną św. Ottona biskupa bamberskiego z lat 1124-1125 i 1128. Przedmiotem tego studium jest baptysterium, jego miejsce w przestrzeni liturgicznej, forma, ikonografia inspirowana teologią i historią, a także hermeneutyka teologiczna. Ikonografia historyczna upamiętnia ojców chrztu: św. Ottona i władców Bolesława Krzywoustego i Warcisława I. Połączenie treści teologicznych i historycznych sprawia, że chrzcielnica z jej przesłaniem jest swoistą katechezą, a także lekcją historii i kultury. Jako projekt badawczy: Baptysterium jubileuszu 900-lecia chrztu Pomorza, uzyskał akceptację Ministerstwa Edukacji i Nauki i został włączony do projektu naukowo-edukacyjnego: Chrzest Pomorza w dziejach Polski i Europy. Jubileusz 900-lecia.
