Das im dreizehnten Jahrhundert erbaute Zisterzienserkloster in Obra gehorte zu den armsten Zisterziensklostern in der Zeit der Ersten Republik. Die Monche haben es geschafft, i.ber die Jahr- hunderte hinweg eine reiche Sammlung von Dokumenten, Handschriften, Werke der Theologie und asketischen religiosen Schriften anzulegen. Und Gebaude zu einem relativ hohen ki.nstlerischen und historischen Wert zu bauen. Der Auflosung des preuBischen Staates im Jahre 1835 unterbrach die Entwicklung der Abtei und fi.hrte zur Zerstorung eines wesentlichen Teiles der kulturellen Gi.ter, die einst ihr Eigentum war. Der Zweite Weltkrieg vergroBerte die Schaden. Dank der Dioze- sanpriester und der Ordensgemeinschaft der Oblaten in den Jahren 1836-1926 und nach 1926 ver- danken wir die Rettung des Zisterzienser Erbes. Der Historische Hintergrund des Artikels dient als erweiterte Einfi.hrung in die Zusammenfassung des Inventars der Archive, Handschriften und Drucke der Zisterzienser, die sich noch in Obra befinden und werden im Archiv des Seminars von den Oblaten der Makellosen Jungfrau Maria aufbewahrt.;
Powstały w XIII w. klasztor cystersów w Obrze należał do uboższych opactw cysterskich w I Rzeczpospolitej. Misi zdołali jednak zgromadzić w nim w ciągu wieków dość bogatą kolekcję dokumentów, rękopisów, dzieł teologicznych i ascetycznych oraz wybudować obiekty sakralne o dość wysokiej wartości artystycznej i historycznej. Kasata pruska w 1835 r. przerwała okres dy- namicznego rozwoju opactwa i doprowadziła do rozproszenia i zniszczenia znacznej części dóbr kultury, będących niegdyś jego własnością. Miary zniszczeń dopełniła II wojna światowa. Trosce księży diecezjalnych w latach 1836-1926 oraz Misjonarzy Oblatów Maryi Niepokalanej po 1926 r. należy zawdzięczać ocalenie części cysterskiego dziedzictwa. Tło historyczne artykułu służy jako poszerzony wstęp dla skróconego inwentarza archiwaliów, rękopisów i druków cysterskich, jakie do dziś zachowały się w Obrze i są przechowywane w archiwum Wyższego Seminarium Duchow- nego Misjonarzy Oblatów Maryi Niepokalanej.
