  One of the groups most at risk of problematic use of the Internet is the youth and young adults. For most of them, the Internet is a tool for work, entertainment and communication, but for a certain group of people, it could be a trap. Using the network can get out of control and have a negative impact on their lives. The problem of Internet abuse has attracted researchers in the late 90s of the past century, and over the last decade has become the subject of intense scientific discussion among psychologists, psychiatrists, educators, sociologists, and other researchers. Since then, there has been an intensive development of work on constructing tools to evaluate and recognize the problematic use of the Internet and addiction to it. The methods used in the initial stage of research on the phenomenon of problematic Internet use (PUI) fell short of the standards that psychometric tools must now meet. The paper presents a review of national and international tools for screening assessment and recognition of problematic Internet use and dependence on it, which is used in the population study of adolescents and young adults. It shows the scale of the threat of the discussed phenomenon, presents the key definitions and diagnostic criteria for problematic Internet use as well as formulates recommendations for future research on the further improvement and development of measurement tools used to identify adolescents and young adults at risk of addiction to the Internet and its resources.;
  Jedną z grup najbardziej zagrożonych problematycznym używaniem Internetu jest młodzież oraz młodzi dorośli. Dla większości z nich Internet jest narzędziem pracy, rozrywki i komunikacji, jednak dla pewnej grupy osób okazać się może pułapką. Korzystanie z sieci może wymykać się spod kontroli i mieć negatywny wpływ na ich życie. Problem nadużywania Internetu zainteresował badaczy już pod koniec lat 90. minionego stulecia, a w ciągu ostatniej dekady stał się przedmiotem ożywionej dyskusji naukowej psychologów, psychiatrów, pedagogów, socjologów i innych badaczy. Od tego czasu nastąpił intensywny rozwój prac nad konstruowaniem i walidacją narzędzi do oceny oraz rozpoznawania problematycznego użytkowania Internetu i uzależnienia od niego. Metody używane w początkowym okresie badań nad zjawiskiem problematycznego używania Internetu (PUI) dalekie były od standardów, jakie muszą obecnie spełniać narzędzia psychometryczne. W artykule dokonano przeglądu krajowych oraz zagranicznych narzędzi do przesiewowej oceny i rozpoznawania problematycznego użytkowania Internetu oraz uzależnienia od niego, które wykorzystuje się w badaniu populacji młodzieży szkolnej i dorosłych. Ukazano skalę zagrożenia omawianym zjawiskiem, zaprezentowano kluczowe dla podjętego problemu definicje, przybliżono kryteria diagnostyczne problematycznego używania Internetu, a także sformułowano zalecenia pod adresem przyszłych prac badawczych nad dalszym udoskonaleniem i rozwojem narzędzi pomiarowych służących do identyfikacji młodzieży szkolnej i młodych dorosłych zagrożonych uzależnieniem od Internetu i jego zasobów.
