Płock, eine der ältesten polnischen Städte, ehemalige Hauptstadt von Masowien und der Diözese Płock, ist seit ihrer Gründung untrennbar mit der Weichsel verbunden. Ihr Standort am Weichselufer in der Nähe des Weichselübergangs trug beträchtlich zur Entstehung und Entwicklung dieser Stadt bei. In der Vergangenheit hat die Weichsel der Stadt schmerzhafte Erlebnisse nicht erspart, unter anderem im Jahr 1532, als ein Teil des Schlosses am Flussufer einstürzte, oder während zahlreicher Überschwemmungen in den Jahren 1813, 1844, 1924 und 1982. Sie bestimmte jedoch auch die wichtigsten positiven Trends in der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung der Stadt im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert, in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Płock: A city on the VistulaPłock, one of the oldest Polish cities, the former capital of Masovia and the diocese of Płock, has been inextricably linked with the Vistula since its beginnings. It was its location on the Vistula embankment near the river crossing that largely decided about the creation and development of this city. In the past, the Vistula River did not spare the city painful experiences, among others in 1532, when a part of the castle on the embankment of the river collapsed, or during the floods (1813, 1844, 1924 and 1982). However, the river also determined the most important trends in the economic development of the city in the 15th and 16th centuries, in the second half of the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century. Płock. Miasto nad WisłąPłock, jedno z najstarszych miast polskich, dawna stolica Mazowsza i diecezji płockiej, od swoich początków nierozerwalnie związany jest z Wisłą. To właśnie jego położenie na skarpie wiślanej w pobliżu przeprawy przez Wisłę w dużej mierze zadecydowało o powstaniu i o rozwoju tego miasta. Wisła w przeszłości nie szczędziła miastu bolesnych w skutkach doświadczeń, między innymi w 1532 roku, kiedy runęła ze skarpy nadrzecznej część zamku, czy w czasie powodzi w latach 1813, 1844, 1924 i 1982. Jednak to ona również wyznaczała najważniejsze trendy w rozwoju ekonomicznym miasta w XV–XVI wieku, w drugiej połowie XIX wieku i w pierwszej połowie XX wieku.
