  Introduction. The occurrence of fever in a small child is one of the most common health problems that parents encounter in everyday childcare. It is especially dangerous in small children under 5 years of age, who, due to the immaturity of the nervous system characteristic of this age, are most at risk of febrile convulsions with high and incorrectly reduced fever. Aim. The aim of the study was to present the problem of fever in children. Material and methods. The method used in the work is the analysis of literature. Overview. Fever in a child is a clinical condition, the causes of which change depending on the period of development of the child's life. In the youngest children, infectious agents of the respiratory, digestive, urinary tract and central nervous system predominate. Older children often have a fever due to the so-called non-infectious, which include immune diseases, cancer, inflammatory bowel disease or connective tissue diseases. Conclusions. Febrile conditions are a very common reason for hospitalization of children under 5 years of age. In the pre-hospital period, parents in contact with the nursing staff repeatedly inform about the lack of knowledge about non-pharmacological methods of lowering fever, they are concerned about the correct administration of antipyretics. Education in this area is an essential task when it comes to medical personnel.;
  Wstęp. Wystąpienie gorączki u małego dziecka jest jednym z najczęściej występujących problemów zdrowotnych z jakimi spotykają się rodzice w codziennej opiece nad dzieckiem. Szczególnie niebezpieczna jest ona u małych dzieci do 5 roku życia, które z powodu charakterystycznej dla tego wieku niedojrzałości układu nerwowego, są najbardziej narażone na pojawienie się drgawek gorączkowych przy wysokiej i nieprawidłowo obniżanej gorączce. Cel. Celem pracy było przedstawienie problematyki gorączki u dzieci. Materiał i metody. Metoda zastosowana w pracy to analiza literatury. Przegląd. Gorączka u dziecka jest stanem klinicznym, którego przyczyny zmieniają się w zależności od okresu rozwoju życia dziecka. U najmłodszych dzieci dominują czynniki infekcyjne układu oddechowego, pokarmowego, dróg moczowych i ośrodkowego układu nerwowego. Dzieci starsze gorączkują najczęściej z przyczyn tzw. nieinfekcyjnych, do których należą choroby immunologiczny, nowotwory, nieswoiste zapalenia jelit czy choroby tkanki łącznej. Wnioski. Stany gorączkowe są bardzo częstym powodem hospitalizacji dzieci do 5 roku życia. W okresie przedszpitalnym rodzice w kontakcie z personelem pielęgniarskim wielokrotnie informują o braku wiedzy na temat niefarmakologicznych metod obniżenia gorączki, mają obawy o poprawne podanie leków przeciwgorączkowych. Edukacja w tym zakresie jest niezbędnym zadaniem, jeśli chodzi o personel medyczny.
