  Mień is the village located in the municipality of Brańsk, district of Bielsk Podlaski, Podlaskie Voivodeship. Its documented roots dated back to the 15th century, when the area was given to Piotr called Pachoł. However, the traces of settlement discovered nearby date back to the early Middle Ages. A small town (an estate and a village) located on the border was the arena of skirmishes and battles that left some traces in the history of the entire country. An important element determining the fate of Mień was also the geographical location - in the vicinity of relatively extensive forested areas and upon the marshy Mianka River. The aim of the presented text is to indicate the events that took place in the neighbourhood of the village as components of great history.;
  Mień jest wsią położoną w gminie Brańsk, powiecie bielskopodlaskim, Województwie Podlaskim. Jej udokumentowanie korzenie sięgają XV w., kiedy to teren został nadany Piotrowi zwanemu Pachołem. Ślady osadnictwa odkryte w pobliżu sięgają jednak już wczesnego średniowiecza. Leżąca na pograniczu niewielka miejscowość (majątek i wieś) były areną potyczek i bojów, które odcisnęły pewne ślady w historii całego kraju. Ważnym elementem warunkującym losy Mnia było również położenie geograficzne – w najbliższym otoczeniu stosunkowo rozległych terenów zalesionych oraz bezpośrednie sąsiedztwo bagnistej rzeki Mianki. Celem przedstawionego tekstu jest wskazanie wydarzeń, które miały miejsce w okolicy miejscowości jako elementów składowych wielkiej historii.
