  Professors of the John Casimir University in Lviv Born to Peasant Families (Period of the Second Republic of Poland): A Collective Portrait

  From among 172 professors who at the interwar period headed the departments of the John Casimir University, 17 were of peasant origin. The article sheds light on the professional and scholarly career of the professors and describes their social and political activity as well as family life. The analysis revealed that the group we were interested in consisted of people who in most of the analysed areas were typical representatives of the professors’ milieu.;
  Wśród 172 profesorów UJK stojących w okresie międzywojennym na czele katedr pochodzenie chłopskie miało 17 spośród nich. W artykule przybliżono drogę zawodową i naukową profesorów, opisano także ich aktywność społeczną i polityczną oraz życie rodzinne. Przeprowadzona analiza wykazała, że w skład interesującej nas grupy wchodziły osoby, które okazały się w większości analizowanych obszarów typowymi przedstawicielami środowiska profesorskiego.
