  Jednym z podstawowych problemów analizy, techniki, ekonomii i innych gałęzi nauki jest poszukiwanie minimów i punktów krytycznych funkcji. Jedną z metod prowadzących do tego celu jest deformacja danej funkcji do funkcji wypukłej, poszukiwanie punktów krytycznych tej deformacji i iterowanie tego procesu. Sprowadzanie danej funkcji do funkcji wypukłej, czy silnie wypukłej prowadzi do łatwego wyznaczania punktów krytycznych i minimów tej deformacji. Są to dokładnie te punkty, w których gradient się zeruje. Klasycznym podejściem do uwypuklania funkcji f : R^n → R na zbiorach ograniczonych i wypukłych jest dodanie do tej funkcji takiej funkcji silnie wypukłej b : R^n → R, że f + b jest funkcją silnie wypukłą na tym zbiorze.;
  One of the fundamental problems of analysis, technology, economics and other branches of science is the search for minima and critical points of functions. One of the methods leading to this goal is the deformation of a given function to a convex function, searching for critical points of this deformation and iterating this process. Reducing a function to a convex or strongly convex function leads to easy determination of critical points and minima of this deformation. These are the exact points where the gradient is zero.The classic approach to convexifying of a function f : R n → R on bounded and convex sets is to add a strongly convex function b : R n → R such that f + b is a strongly convex function on this set (see for instance [19], [11] and [20] for quadratic function b(x) = γ|x| 2, γ > 0).
