Jan Sowa in his book "Inna Rzeczpospolita jest możliwa" proposed an alternative model of state organization, based on the concepsts of multitude and commons. This article is both a polemic and extension of Sowa's proposal, in the area of social studies of science. Basing on the state of research, including author's ethnographic practice, article highlights issues connected with metrology, cost distribution, motivations of the creators of the commons (basing on the review of research on open source). In the second part of the article the case of Open Source Drug Discovery program is discussed, focusing on the possibility of commons (public health). The case shows how issues presented in the first part could be alternatively resolved, saving part of the Sowa's proposal and avoiding its major drawbacks.;
Jan Sowa w książce Inna Rzeczpospolita jest możliwa proponował model organizacji państwa oparty na koncepcjach wielości i dóbr wspólnych. Niniejszy artykuł jest jednocześnie polemiką i problematyzacją propozycji Sowy, które dotyczą badań społecznych nad nauką i techniką. Korzystając z badań kolektywów hakerskich, w tym elementów własnego badania etnograficznego, w artykule pokazuję problemy związane z: metrologią, dystrybucją kosztów, motywacjami osób tworzących dobra wspólne (na przykładzie projektów open source). W drugiej części artykułu pokazano przypadek dobra wspólnego (indyjskiego programu Otwartych Badań nad Lekami) , który ma potencjał tworzenia dobra wspólnego (zdrowia publicznego). Przypadek ten służy do pokazania alternatywnych rozwiązań problemów wskazanych w pierwszej części, w taki sposób, by zrealizować część postulatów Sowy i uniknąć najważniejszych problemów.
