The article is devoted to the functioning of mills as part of the goods of the monastery of Canons Regular of St. Augustine in Żagań until the beginning of the 16th century. It pays special attention to retracing the ways in which the abbey gained possession of mills, changes in ownership, amount and types of income which the monastery derives from owning the property. Another important aspect discussed in the work is an attempt to compare financial gains, especially rent in money which the community of Żagań received from mills built on its lands with the benefits from analogous laws of other medieval monasteries. The source materials also became the basis of defining the role which the mills played in the economic policy of the monastery of Żagań and the influence which they had on relations with social environment.;
Artykuł poświęcony jest funkcjonowaniu młynów w dobrach klasztoru kanoników regularnych z Żagania do początku XVI w. Szczególną uwagę zwrócono na prześledzenie dróg, jakimi opactwo wchodziło w posiadanie młynów, zmiany własnościowe, wielkość i rodzaj dochodów czerpanych przez konwent z tytułu posiadania ich w swoich majątkach. Inny ważnym aspektem poruszonym w pracy jest próba porównania korzyści majątkowych, zwłaszcza czynszów pieniężnych, jakie wspólnota żagańska uzyskiwała z posadowionych na należących do niej ziemiach młynów z korzyściami, jakie płynęły z analogicznych praw w innych klasztorach średniowiecznych. Materiały źródłowe stały się także bazą do określenia roli młynów w polityce gospodarczej klasztoru żagańskiego oraz ich wpływu na relacje z otoczeniem społecznym.
