  Lifelong learning is a key condition for the development of society. It is a means to improve the quality of life, both in the individual and social dimension. In the opinion of Józef Półturzycki, the idea of lifelong learning is the essence of contemporary educational changes, therefore, this article attempts to present the Professor’s views on lifelong learning and to highlight the principle of continuity of education against this background. The last part of the discussion is devoted to the issues of using (referring to) the principle of continuity in education as part of education for safety, i.e. presenting this education as a lifelong process organized by various institutions, educational environments, and social groups.;
  Kształcenie ustawiczne jest kluczowym warunkiem rozwoju społeczeństwa, środkiem do podnoszenia jakości życia, zarówno w wymiarze indywidualnym, jak i społecznym. Idea kształcenia ustawicznego w przekonaniu Józefa Półturzyckiego stanowi istotę współczesnych przemian oświatowych, dlatego też w niniejszym tekście podjęto próbę ukazania poglądów Profesora na kształcenie ustawiczne oraz wyeksponowania na tym tle zasady ustawiczności kształcenia. Ostatnia część rozważań jest poświęcona problemom wykorzystania (odniesienia) zasady ustawiczności kształcenia w ramach edukacji dla bezpieczeństwa – ukazaniu tej edukacji jako procesu trwającego całe życie i organizowanego przez różne instytucje, środowiska wychowawcze i grupy społeczne.
