There are few sources left showing the operations of the Court of the Bench in Gdańsk in the 14th and 15th Centuries. The way it operated was stipulated by ordinances. The oldest ordinance, from the mid–15th Century (Ordinancie der herren scheppen), described how the aldermen were elected and how the city’s law books were kept. The paper deals with one more ordinance for the council and aldermen of the Main Town of Gdańsk, of 1442, stipulating court fees and the handling of documents presented to the Court of the Bench.;
Dla Gdańska XIV–XV w. zachowało się niewiele źródeł, które ukazują sposób działania sądu ławniczego. Szczegółowo sposób działania sądu ławniczego określały ordynacje. Najstarsza ordynacja z ok. połowy XV w. (Ordinancie der herren scheppen) regulowała m.in. procedurę wyboru ławników oraz sposób prowadzenia ksiąg miejskich. Artykuł omawia jeszcze jedną ordynację rady i ławy Głównego Miasta Gdańska z 1442 r. w sprawie opłat sądowych oraz postępowania z dokumentami okazywanymi przed sądem ławniczym.
