  The aim of the article is to decide which types of dialectal plant names should be treated as phrasemes, and to what extent they have been phrasemed. The issue has been presented by using 647 names of plants collected in 2016–2017 in several villages located in the Podhale region in south-western Lesser Poland. The text presents a classification of multi-word lexemes. The relationship between the types of dialectal phraseologies (plant names) and the semantics of the structure components, as well as the motivation of the recorded units have been shown, too. The analysis suggests that among phrasemes serving as dialectal descriptions of plants, metaphorical, two-word idiomatic compounds prevail. While the primary component usually indicates the similarity of the plant (or its part) to another object, the subordinate component enriches the basic content or communicates other features of the referent.
