  Deafblindness is one of the most serious disabilities occurring in humans and has significant consequences for the affected person, namely in their development, in getting to know themselves and the surrounding reality, and in communication. The article is devoted to the presentation of experiences gained from conducting research with the participation of deaf-blind people. It shows that qualitative research can play an important role in understanding the social world of deaf-blind people. The specificity of the coupled sensory disability is presented. The article also explains the use of qualitative methods in the examination of deaf-blind people. Additionally, the research conducted so far with deaf-blind persons is overviewed, and the choice of the interpretative paradigm is justified. The issue of searching for deaf-blind people for examination is discussed, too. It is also substantiated why the understanding interview technique proposed by Jean-Claude Kaufmann was used for this type of research. An important issue was also to indicate how deaf-blind persons were provided with appropriate conditions for the implementation of the research in question.;
  Głuchoślepota zaliczana jest do najpoważniejszych niepełnosprawności i powoduje istotne konsekwencje dla osoby nią dotkniętej – w jej rozwoju, porozumiewaniu się oraz poznawaniu siebie i otaczającej rzeczywistości. Artykuł poświęcony jest prezentacji doświadczeń z prowadzenia badań z udziałem osób głuchoniewidomych. Pokazano w nim, że badania jakościowe mogą odegrać istotną rolę w poznaniu świata społecznego osób głuchoniewidomych. Przedstawiono specyfikę sprzężonej niepełnosprawności sensorycznej, a także wyjaśniono zastosowanie metod jakościowych w badaniu osób głuchoniewidomych. Dodatkowo wskazano na dotychczas przeprowadzone badania z osobami głuchoniewidomymi, a także uzasadniono wybór paradygmatu interpretatywnego. W opracowaniu omówiona została kwestia poszukiwania osób głuchoniewidomych do badań, uzasadniono również, dlaczego do tego typu badań została wykorzystana technika wywiadu rozumiejącego, zaproponowana przez Jeana-Claude’a Kaufmanna. Istotną kwestią było także wskazanie, w jaki sposób zapewniono osobom głuchoniewidomym odpowiednie warunki do jego przeprowadzenia.
