  The article is a description of the most important textological and editorial problems connected with the elaboration on Dzieła zebrane by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz. “Science vs. philosophy” and other philosophical works (1933–1939), which contained 23 treatises, 11 of which were inedits. Thus the main problems involved elaboration on the treatises left as manuscripts or typescripts, unpublished during the author’s life. The manuscripts were often incomplete (they lacked a beginning, ending or a fragment of text in the middle) or damaged (as a result of partial burning or rotting). Most manuscripts were rough drafts and thus contained numerous errors, such as unfinished sentences, missing words, lapsus calami, or lack no division into paragraphs. Additional difficulties were caused by the author’s numerous corrections and postscripts, which often made the text illegible. The manuscripts thus required serious ordering, which resulted in the authors of a new edition facing one of the most important dilemmas of an editor working on the text on the basis of a manuscript: whether to preserve the authorial chaos, or introduce editorial order.The next problems discussed in the article are issues such as dating of texts (extremely problematic, due to frequent changes in the layout of treatises themselves, numerous corrections and compiling new wholes), the titles (difficult to define in the cases of works which lacked a beginning, or those to which the author gave different titles), as well as the related issue of the treatises’ final shape, resulting from Witkacy’s constant work on the texts, which often changed their forms and titles (it is confirmed by numerous deletions, supplements, changes in numeration, transfers of fragments from one treatise to another, supplements “wandering” among different texts).               ;
  Artykuł stanowi omówienie najważniejszych problemów tekstologiczno-edytorskich związanych z opracowaniem tomu Dzieł zebranych Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza „Nauki ścisłe a filozofia” i inne pisma filozoficzne (1933–1939), w którym zostały umieszczone dwadzieścia trzy rozprawy, z czego aż jedenaście tekstów stanowiły inedita. Stąd główne problemy łączyły się z opracowaniem rozpraw pozostawionych w rękopisach bądź maszynopisach i niewydanych za życia autora. Rękopisy były często niekompletne (brakowało początku, zakończenia czy fragmentów wewnątrz tekstu) lub uszkodzone (w wyniku nadpalenia bądź zbutwienia). Większość rękopisów (jako brudnopisy) zawierały liczne usterki, np. niedokończone zdania, brakujące słowa, lapsus calami, brak podziału na akapity. Dodatkowe trudności wiązały się z licznymi poprawkami i dopiskami autora, które nierzadko decydowały o nieczytelności tekstu. Rękopisy wymagały zatem uporządkowania, co postawiło autorów nowej edycji przed jednym z najważniejszych dylematów edytora opracowującego tekst na podstawie rękopisu: czy zachować autorski chaos, czy jednak wprowadzić edytorski porządek.Kolejne omówione w artykule problemy to kwestia datowania tekstów (niezwykle problematyczna ze względu na częste zmiany układu samych rozpraw, ciągłe ich poprawianie i kompilowanie nowych całości), problem tytułów rozpraw (trudny do rozstrzygnięcia np. w przypadku prac pozbawionych początku) oraz ściśle z tym związana kwestia ostatecznego kształtu rozpraw, wynikająca z nieustannej pracy Witkacego nad tekstami, które zmieniały wielokrotnie swą postać i tytuły. Świadczą o tym liczne skreślenia, uzupełnienia, zmiany numeracji, przesunięcia fragmentów jednej rozprawy do innej, „wędrujące” między różnymi tekstami dodatki.
