  The essasy commemorates the political activities of Edward Woyniłłowicz regarded as one of the main creators of public and economic life of the local gentry of the territory of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania at the end of XIX and beginning of XX centuries.In the first part Author depicts the idea of agrarian societies which were a from of gathering and uniting of the Polosh gentry. They were brought into life in 1858 in the territory of Polsh Kingdom and then spread to other Polish lends as well as to eastern provinces, reaching Belorussia and Lithuania (1860). The idea was taken up by Russian goverment official, Lew Sawicz Makow, who set up the Minsk Agrarian Society in 1878 and since 1888 worked as its vice-president and the facto leader.The second part essay focuses on the political and other publlic interest activities of Woyniłłowicz. Only under Nikolaus II associated gentry began to create its own politicla programme, built around the "national doctrine" and promoting the values of liberalism, democrasy and the Chrisitianity as well as caling for autonomy of Lithuania and Belorussia in the Russian Empire. In  1906 Woyniłłowicz was elected as a representative of a Minsk province to the State Council. Until 1909 he undertake the strengthen the position of the local (Belarussian and Lithuanian) intelligence and hand-owners in their relations with the Russian Empire and the Polish Kingdom. His political activities focused on the creation of the National Party of Lithuanian and Belarussian. The party, albeit not very successful,promoted the cultural and political autonomy of Lithuanians, Belarussians and Poles who are co-habited with the estern provinces.As the State Council member, Woyniłłowicz concentrated his efforts on the area of finances and farming business, and later he continued his activites within the framework of the Minsk Agrarian Society (until 1914)
