The presence and the action of the Holy Trinity is the source of the unity of the Church. God the Father, by sending His only begotten Son into the world, makes him the Head of the Church. He also unites all the people who believe in Him in such a way that they become His body – the Church – which is always united and universal in terms of space and time. This means that the Church is not limited to only one place or one group of Christians, but it comprises all those people who belong to Christ, and extends to the ends of the earth. The unity of the Church and inside the Church is also the act of the Holy Spirit who descends upon the disciples of Christ to give them the gift of unanimity. Another bonds, which unite many churches in one Church, include one faith which takes the form of doctrine; baptism through which Christians were included in the body of Christ; the one Gospel which we all listen to; some psalms sung by Christians throughout the world; one Passover celebrated by all; common prayer in which they call God the Father; or the same sacraments, thanks to which all the people obtain the same grace from God. The basis of this unity is love which has been poured into the hearts of the disciples of Christ through the Holy Spirit. It is the factor that unites churches and makes the community of the Christians' hearts possible. Thanks to this love, many churches scattered throughout the world constitute always one universal Church.;
Źródłem jedności Kościoła jest obecność w nim i działanie Trójcy Świętej. Bóg Ojciec, posyłając swego Jednorodzonego Syna na świat czyni Go Głową Kościoła, a wszystkich wierzących w Niego, jednoczy z Nim w taki sposób, że stają się oni Jego ciałem, czyli Kościołem, który zawsze przysługuje przymiot jedności i powszechności pod względem przestrzennym i czasowym. Oznacza to, że nie jest on ograniczony wyłącznie do jednego miejsca i jednej grupy chrześcijan, lecz obejmuje wszystkich należących do Chrystusa, sięgając aż po krańce ziemi. Jedność Kościoła i w Kościele jest również dziełem Ducha Świętego, który zstępując na uczniów Chrystusa udziela im daru jednomyślności.Do więzów spajających liczne kościoły w jeden Kościół należy również jedna wiara, która przyjmuje postać doktryny, chrzest święty, poprzez który chrześcijanie zostali włączeni w jedno ciało Chrystusa, jedna Ewangelia, której wszyscy słuchają, jedne psalmy śpiewane przez chrześcijan na całym świecie, jedna Pascha świętowana przez wszystkich, wspólna modlitwa, w której wszyscy nazywają Boga Ojcem, czy też te same sakramenty, które wszyscy przyjmując, otrzymują od Boga takie same łaski. Podstawą owej jedności jest natomiast miłość, która została wlana w serca uczniów Chrystusa przez Ducha Świętego. Ona jest czynnikiem, który jednoczy kościoły i umożliwia wspólnotę serc wśród chrześcijan. Dzięki niej wiele kościołów rozproszonych po świecie, stanowi zawsze jeden powszechny Kościół.
