Opinion of both segments of market of UE - the the founder's countries and remaining she - confirmed the tendencies, happened also in different trades and relating the comparatively large acceptance the and experiences connected with expansion to countries of Western Europe.   Celem artykułu jest identyfikacja i ocena czynników determinujących działalność polskich przedsiębiorstw budowlanych za granica. Analiza przeprowadzona została w oparciu o materiał badawczy zgromadzony w 2011 roku w trakcie badan ankietowych w 150 przedsiębiorstwach działających na rynku budowlanym. Dokonano celowego doboru próby ze zbiorowości średnich i dużych podmiotów wykonujących roboty budowlane i producentów materiałów budowlanych. Kryterium doboru, oprócz wielkości zatrudnienia i pozycji rynkowej przedsiębiorstwa, specjalizacji w różnych rodzajach wykonawstwa budowlanego i produkcji materiałów budowlanych - było realizowanie działalności poza granicami Polski. Badaniu poddano piec obszarów funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw – ludzi, kulturę organizacyjna, technologie, produkty, sprzedaż i współpracę - decydujących o zaistnieniu i (lub) umocnieniu pozycji. Odniesienie sukcesu na rynku międzynarodowym uzależnione było w największym stopniu od wysokich umiejętności zasobów ludzkich zarówno kierowników, jak i pracowników. Podobnie wysokie oceny charakteryzowały wymagania dotyczące cech produktów, szczególnie jakości i dostosowania do potrzeb klientów. Ocena obu segmentów rynku UE - krajów założycielskich i pozostałych - potwierdziła tendencje spotykane także w innych branżach i dotyczące stosunkowo dużej akceptacji i doświadczeń związanych z ekspansja do krajów Europy Zachodniej. Dla polskiego sektora budownictwa dominujący pozostaje rynek niemiecki. Należy jednak przypuszczać, że ze względu na postępująca integracje oraz mały kulturowy dystans, rynek nowych krajów UE będzie naturalnym obszarem wzrostu aktywności.
