  Das Wort Gender gilt als eine Kampfparole in Mittel-Europa. Es ist ein Begriff, der durch viele Missverständnisse belastet ist. Der Artikel versucht den Grund für dieses Misstrauen gegenüber den Begriff, sowie seine grundlegende Bedeutung für die Ethik durch zwei Fallbeispiele zu klären. Das Misstrauen gegenüber dem Begriff „Gender” wird als ein Konsequenz der historischen Erfahrung von der „Staatlichen Feminismus” aus den Zeiten der Sozialismus erklärt. In der ungarischen Gesellschaft wurde die Emanzipation der Frau als ein äußerer Zwang, als eine Anordnung von Oben erlebt, was auch ein Misstrauen gegen jede Geschlechterpolitik erwirkte. Im zweiten Teil wird die Frage des Verhältnisses zwischen biologischem und sozialem Geschlecht untersucht durch das Beispiel der eingeschworenen Jungfrauen Albaniens, sowie den Fall „David Reimer” diskutiert. Es wird gezeigt, dass Gender überhaupt nicht als eine konkrete und gefestigte Deutung der Geschlechtlichkeit zu denken ist, sondern vielmehr als eine Kategorie der Analyse, die es uns ermöglicht zu sehen, wieweit die Kategorie des Geschlechts unser Leben bestimmt. Es soll um eine kritische, darf aber nicht um eine grundsätzlich negative Sicht der Geschlechtlichkeit gehen, sondern es kann auch das Behagen an unserer Geschlechtlichkeit einbeziehen.;
  The word gender is considered a campaign slogan in Central Europe. It is a term loaded with a great number of misunderstandings. The article seeks to find the reason for this distrust towards the concept, and to clarify its fundamental importance for ethics. The distrust towards the term is explained as a consequence of the historical experience of the „State feminism” from the times of socialism. In Hungarian society the emancipation of women was seen as an external constraint which resulted in suspicion towards any gender politics. The second part of the article discusses the question of the relationship between biological and social sex on the example of the sworn virgins in Albania and the case „David Reimer”. It will be shown that gender is not to be interpreted as concrete and well-established interpretation of sexuality, but rather as a category of analysis that allows us to see how far our lives are determined by the category of gender. As a category of analysis the term shows a critical nature, however, it does not necessarily entail a negative view of our gender roles, but may also show our contentment of our gendered reality.;
  Słowo „gender” uważane jest w Środkowej Europie za slogan bojowy. Jest to określenie obciążone wieloma niejasnościami. W artykule autor stara się wyjaśnić na podstawie dwóch opisów przypadków (cases) zarówno przyczyny nieufności wobec tego pojęcia, jak i jego fundamentalne znaczenie dla etyki. Nieufność wobec tego pojęcia tłumaczy się historycznym doświadczaniem „feminizmu państwowego” z czasów socjalizmu. W społeczeństwie węgierskim emancypacja kobiet była postrzegana jako zewnętrzny przymus, jako odgórny nakaz, którego skutkiem była podejrzliwość wobec jakiejkolwiek polityki płci. W drugiej części artykułu zbadana zostanie kwestia związku pomiędzy płcią biologiczną a społeczną, która zostaje przedyskutowana na przykładzie zaprzysiężonych dziewic w Albanii i przypadku „Davida Reimera”. Zostanie wykazane, że płeć nie ma być rozumiana jako konkretna i ugruntowana interpretacja seksualności, ale raczej jako kategoria analizy, która pozwala zobaczyć, jak daleko nasze życie jest zdeterminowane kategorią płci. Powinno chodzić o krytyczne, niekoniecznie o jednoznacznie negatywne, widzenie płciowości, lecz także o włączenie zadowolenia z naszej płciowości.
