First, it introduces Jan Zygmunt Wilczyński (1891–1970), who worked as a scientist at SBU in the years 1919–1939, and then at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in the years 1945–1951. The second part focuses on Jan Wilczyński’s recollections which refer mostly to the second decade of the history of SBU.
