  The article shows the shaping of the French part of the Franco-Polish consortium, which obtained the concession to build the harbour in Gdynia. It is based on French archival sources. The paper combines research conducted separately within French and Polish historiography, offering a new interpretation of the beginnings of the Gdynia harbour. It shows that French authorities, following their government’s security policy, had a decisive impact on the selection of companies forming the consortium.;
  Artykuł przedstawia proces kształtowania się francuskiej części konsorcjum, które uzyskało koncesję na budowę portu w Gdyni. Jego podstawą są francuskie materiały archiwalne. Tekst zestawia i weryfikuje ustalenia historiografii polskiej i francuskiej, dowodząc, że zasadnicze znaczenie dla wyboru firm uczestniczących w konsorcjum miały władze francuskie realizujące politykę bezpieczeństwa III Republiki.
