W artykule opisano zbrodnię dokonaną w miejscowości Srebrnica koło Koronowa w październiku 1939 r. przez członków miejscowego Selbstschutzu. Ofiarami byli miejscowi polscy obywatele Koronowa, znani ze swoich patriotycznych przekonań oraz przedwojennej działalności politycznej i społecznej. Zbrodnia stała się również kanwą rozważań na temat przedwojennych stosunków panujących na ziemiach Pomorza Gdańskiego oraz podjętej jesienią 1939 r. przez okupanta akcji eksterminacyjnej skierowanej do warstwy społeczeństwa polskiego przejawiającej postawę patriotyczną (tzw. Intelligenzaktion).
