Wincenty Skrzetuski's political views place him among the followers of the designers of the reform of the 18th century Republic of Poland. In his work on The Political Right of the Polish Nation, Skrzetuski described the principles according to which the Polish Seym of those times functioned, and, more importantly, depicted the liberum veto rule which he considered to be one of the most disastrous mechanisms allowing an abuse of civil rights. He also proposed procedures that would facilitate a better and more efficient conduct of parliamentary sessions and enhance discipline among its participants. Skrzetuski's views on the succession to the throne expressed in his work on Speeches on major political matters are also noteworthy. His criticism of Royal Election constituted an important element in the 18th century dispute between the supporters of the old order and the propagators of the reforms. Skrzetuski was among those who were first to advocate the necessity of building a strong modern state. In his works such a Speeches or The Political Right he often warned that delaying reforms, e.g. such as introduction of the succession to the throne, or maintaining the liberum veto principle, would lead to a decline and ultimate fall of the Republic.;
Les opinions de l'abbé Wincenty Skrzetuski, écrivain polonais du XVIIIe siècle, permettent à le mettre au nombre des continuateurs de l'oeuvre de la réforme constitutionnelle dans la République Polonaise au Temps de la Lumière. Dans son oeuvre principal intitulé Le Droit politique de la nation polonaise (en polonais : Prawo polityczne narodu polskiego) outre la déscription des principes du fonctionnement de la Diète de la République nobiliaire Skrzetuski présentait le liberum veto, qui selon lui constituait une institution constitutionnelle la plus dangereuse pour l'État car elle ne consistait que dans l'abus des libertés civiques. Relativement beaucoup de place l'écrivain consacra à la déscription des procédures destinés à améliorer les débats et à discipliner les deputés et les sénateurs participants à la Diète. Il est bien intéresant aussi l'exposé de Skrzetuski sur la question de la succession du trône polonais qui se trouve dans l'ouvrage intitulé Mowy o główniejszych materiach politycznych (Les discours sur les principales matières politiques). On y trouve la critique de l'élection libre qui vers la fin du XVIIIe siècle constituait un élément important dans la dispute entre les partisants de l'ancien régime et les réformateurs. Skrzetuski était l'un des premiers qui demandaient les changements juridiques visants le renforcement et la modernisation de l'État. Dans les nombreuses reprises, l'abbé Skrzetuski avertissait que le manque des réformes, surtout le refus de l'introduction du trône héréditaire et le maintien du liberum veto provoqueraient un déclin définitif de la République.
